Pacquiao vs. Bradley: Bradley Is Being Cocky Only to Hype the Fight

LOS ANGELES, CA - MAY 29: Timothy Bradley stands in front of a placard advertising Bradley Paquiao 2, which would happen if he wins their upcoming fight in June, at a media workout at Fortune Gym on May 29, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. The workout is in advance of Bradley's upcoming WBO welterweight championship fight against Manny Pacquiao on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. (Photo by Stephen Dunn/Getty Images)

Many fight fans, who are for the most part Pacquiao fans, have been expressing their disapproval for Timothy Bradley's recent pre-fight self-promotion and cocky persona.

Bradley has in the last several days said everything from he will destroy  Manny Pacquiao, that his famous multi-award winning trainer of the year Freddie Roach is overrated  and even most cleverly made a cool rematch poster for "Timothy Bradley vs. Manny Pacquiao II" set for their rematch clause date in November which obviously implies that he already won the fight on June 9.

However, for those of us who have ever met Timothy Bradley before, we know this is not his personality. In fact, Bradley in his own words in an interview, stated how he disliked  Floyd Mayweather for doing the very same thing that he is now doing.

I first met Bradley at the Amir Khan vs. Marcos Maidana fight back in December 2010 and asked him how he felt and even a prediction on how he would do against Devon Alexander.

At that time, his fight with Alexander was the biggest fight of his career with both of the top elite champions at 140 pounds fighting to unify the titles and it was hyped to be one of the most meaningful fights in the sport of boxing.

Bradley was very humble and genuine and told me he feels good and that he does not know how his fight with Alexander will go down. What I gathered from him was that he was indeed confident that he would beat Alexander, but he did not want to come across as an arrogant person.

If you recall all of the HBO promos and pre-fight segments such as the Face Off with Max Kellerman tended to be biased in favor of Devon Alexander at the time. It appeared to me that HBO was desperate for their next big all American star to be born and they were intending for it to be Devon Alexander.

Even during the Face Off with Max Kellerman we see a trash talking Alexander and his trainer trying to play mind games and punk Bradley, but Bradley does not fire back.

Bradley either just takes it in and gets irked by the taunts from Alexander and his trainer or perhaps even HBO cut off or edited what Bradley had to say back to Alexander, to make it look like he was getting owned in the Face Off?

Either way, Bradley did not fight fire with fire and trash talk Alexander back and it seemed that HBO wanted to edit the Face Off with Max Kellerman in a way that showed Bradley as intimidated or insecure, but I was not buying it.

It seemed to me that Alexander was the insecure one laughing and trying to get inside Bradley's mind that day, but it did not work.

As we all know, come fight night Bradley was the better man inside the ring as he dominated Alexander onto a unanimous technical decision. Was Bradley just simply on a different level? Or was he just more hungry and willing to take it that night? I would argue it was a little bit of both.

Dierry Jean vs. Cosme Rivera

Due to delays in obtaining a visa, Cosme Rivera, who was to face Dierry Jean in the finals for the NABF belt in the Welterweight division this Saturday, May 19 at the Holiday Inn Pointe-Claire, will no longer be on the card. The organization Eye of the Tiger Management has agreed with the American Lanardo Tyner (25-7-2, 15 KO) to replace him. Since the belt will still be at stake, it will remain a twelve round bout.
Event promoter Camille Estephan is confident that the caliber of the confrontation will not be affected by this change. Indeed, he describes the American pugilist as a tough opponent who delivers strong performances in his career: “We have seen Tyner fighting against Kevin Bizier last December in the finals at the Quebec Coliseum where he had offered a spectacular resistance. He then proved himself again in February when he led a struggle of twelve rounds against Jessie Vargas, current World Champion.” This new matchup is sure to keep local sensation Dierry Jean on his guard.

David Price vs. Sam Sexton

David Price v Sam Sexton: Aintree racecourse fight is a bout between two gentlemen says Frank Maloney

Frank Maloney has announced David Price and Sam Sexton will meet for the vacant British heavyweight championship at Liverpool's Aintree Racecourse on Saturday, May 19.
Liverpool fan Price saw his favourite football team end a six-year wait for a trophy by lifting the Carling Cup last week and his target is to end years of hurt for the city's biggest hitters.
For all Liverpool's fantastic fighting history, the city has never produced a British heavyweight champion - and Price can change all that. He will meet Sexton, from Norwich, for the belt vacated by Tyson Fury.
Price, bronze medallist at the Beijing Olympics four years ago, has earned his chance by winning all 12 fights and in January, a sell-out crowd at Liverpool's Olympia saw him wipe out John McDermott in just 73 seconds to earn his chance to wear the Lonsdale belt.
He will have the backing of his home crowd again - but that won't bother Sexton. Sexton twice silenced Martin Rogan's hostile Belfast supporters by busting up their local hero in Commonwealth-title fights with his ice-cool skills.
Sexton, also a former 'Prizefighter' champion, has got this title chance by outpointing 'War Machine' Larry Olubamiwo.

Mikkel Kessler vs Allan Green

In news that should excite basically nobody, Mikkel Kessler will be moving up to light heavyweight with his next fight on May 19, facing American Allan Green in Denmark. Kessler was originally supposed to face WBO super middleweight titlist Robert Stieglitz in November, and then in April, but that fight was canceled after never really seeming like it was happening in the first place.

Mikkel Kessler and Allan Green will settle their differences

Mikkel "Viking Warrior" Kessler does battle with Allan "Ghost Dog" Green for the Vacant WBC Silver Light Heavyweight Championship.
Fighting in front of a home crowd in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, Kessler will be roared on by a partisan support at the Parken football stadium as he steps up to light heavyweight.
Kessler and Green had been due to meet two years ago, as the Dane pulled out with an eye injury; there's unfinished business to be taken care of.

Entering the ring with a 44 (33KO) - 2 record, 33-year-old Kessler will be the favourite to add to his impressive collection of belts.
The Dane is a three time World Champion at super middleweight, and will look to win a belt at a second weight category when he steps up to take on Green, May 19th.
Allan Green

Known for his power-punching, natural light heavyweight Allan Green will bring a 31 (21KO) - 3 record into the ring when he takes on Kessler.
Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Green has previously held the WBO NABO super middleweight belt. In 2010, he lost against Andre Ward as he challenged for the WBA Super World Super Middleweight crown.
